Group Planning Manager

Reported to : Chairman: Everite Group previously to Executive Director - Everite
Projects/duties performed : Evaluation of benefits of proposed joint venture using financial modelling. Testing of various scenarios, including factory closure decisions. Implementation of activity based costing in selected sites. Economic examination of the building industry business cycle. Determination of coincident and leading indicators by means of linear and multilinear regression techniques.


Head: Industrial Engineering

Period : January 1991 - June 1991
Reported to : Manager: Technical Department
Projects/duties performed : Continued dissemination of activity based costing within the group. Financial evaluation and sensitivity modelling of major capex (R40 mio +) new technology investments.


Senior Industrial Engineer

Period : January 1988 - December 1990
Reported to : Consulting and Cost Engineer
Projects/duties performed : Cost optimisation of production and transport allocation between factories. Value analysis of product specification. Development of raw material stock reporting system (Lotus 123). Development of computerised product mix formulation. Identified and introduced the concept of activity based costing within the group (at this time few management consulting firms had knowledge of the subject).


Industrial Engineer

Projects/duties performed : Enhancements, documentation and user manuals of automation program described in third position held. Provide information to management during union negotiations on incentive schemes (evaluation of cost implications of union demands, presentation of alternative schemes with accompanied cost of implementation. (Extensive use made of Lotus 123). Implementation of technical reporting system (Production productivity report) in factories of recently merged company. Evaluation of computer hardware requirements within Technical Department


Industrial Engineering Technician

Period : January 1985 - April 1986

Projects/duties performed : Stockyard storage capacity evaluation and capacity improvement proposals for new product range. Software development of project management program. Operations flowcharting of prime production processes as required by SABS 0157 specification. Value analysis and inter-factory rationalisation of product specification. Software design, programming and commissioning of real-time, multi-tasking industrial control program for the automation of a new raw material preparation plant

Projects/duties performed : Completion of Diploma at Technikon.


Trainee Work Study Officer

Period : February 1982 - June 1984

Projects/duties performed : Provide support to Senior Industrial Engineer. Method studies, plant bottleneck and capacity studies. Feasibility studies. Process simulation. Automation of routine tasks for clerical staff. Monitoring of new product test runs. Attended Technikon for each period July to November during 1982, 1983 and 1984
